About

About Colonel Rajendra Shukla

Colonel Rajendra Shukla (Retd.) is a veteran of the Indian Army with over three decades of service in some of the most operationally demanding environments in the subcontinent — from counter-insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast to high-altitude deployments on the Line of Actual Control.

Military Career

During his distinguished career in the Indian Army, Col. Shukla served across multiple theatres and held command, staff, and instructional appointments. His operational experience spans counter-insurgency, mountain warfare, and conventional operations. He has commanded troops at the unit level and served in senior staff roles dealing with military strategy, intelligence, and operational planning.

His career gave him firsthand insight into India’s most complex security challenges — the Kashmir insurgency, the evolving threat on the northern borders, and the strategic competition that defines India’s security environment today.

About This Blog

Shuksgyan — now continuing as ColonelShukla.com — was started in 2008 as a platform for independent analysis on Indian politics, defence, and geopolitics. Over 17 years and 4,000+ articles, it has built a readership among defence enthusiasts, policy students, retired military officers, and citizens who want unfiltered analysis without the constraints of institutional affiliation.

The blog reflects a simple conviction: informed citizens make better democracies, and honest analysis — even when uncomfortable — serves the national interest better than sanitised commentary.
